Science Applied: how should we prioritize the protection of species diversity

Free Response Question:

A. One reason that the Florida Reef is not recognized as a hotspot is because there is not enough biodiversity in the plants and the animals that live there. Also because of the coral bleaching, the Florida Reef is not a hotspot for fish or plants to live there.

B. One ecosystem that the Florida Reef provides is a living space for fish and other animals to live in and to survive in. Another ecosystem that the Florida Reef is that it provides oxygen for our environment to counteract the carbon dioxide.

C. Coral bleaching is internal algae loss of corals, which cause the corals to become a white color.

D. If hurricanes help ecosystems maintain diversity, then the more diversity there is in that ceratin ecosystem, but if there are too many massive hurricanes, then the coral reef that is being impacted could risk local extinciton.
